Project Start: January 2027
Bioremediation is the use of either naturally occurring or deliberately introduced microorganisms or other forms of life to consume and break down environmental pollutants to clean up a polluted site.
The team will develop guidance to help environmental professionals apply bioremediation technologies more consistently and confidently. Focus areas will include practical implementation, remedy performance, data interpretation, and decision frameworks that support remedy selection, optimization, transition to monitored natural attenuation, and site closure.
Note: The project team proposal outlines the initial scope and intended deliverables. The final project scope, deliverables, and content may be adjusted to best meet the needs of ITRC members and the environmental community.
